Advent Sermon Series 2020
“Nothing Will Be Impossible with God”
Advent is a time of preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. The biblical texts for the season are often somber, if not disturbing. The color of Advent, blue, reflects the mood while also hinting at the royal nature of the One we anticipate to come.
To help guide you through the season, Pr. Paige and Pr. Olson will be preaching a sermon series, “Nothing Will Be Impossible with God.” In this time of pandemic, we struggle with discerning God’s presence. But, as Luther Seminary Professor Karoline Lewis reminds us,
“We might not be able yet to say, “nothing is impossible with God” and that’s ok. Perhaps we need to sit in that in-between place a little longer – and maybe we will have to. There is no going back to normal. Mary knew that as well. She realized this truth as she found herself between who she thought God was and who God needed her to be. But isn’t this the very heart of the Gospel?”
Please join us for this series as we get ready for a Christmas like no other. Here the dates for Advent, the sermon theme, and biblical text for each Sunday.
